Hello Families,

We hope you are all doing well and adjusting to learning at home!
This week please continue to focus on the choices listed below (also sent home
on the green sheet). The updates that you will find are to Art, PE, Music, and SEL
(on Wednesday).  We also added a link under the math section where you can print
a measurement practice sheet if you would like. We also have a fun STEM activity
that your child will enjoy! Lastly, here is a Choice Board that you can access if you are
needing more activities for your kiddo! It's totally optional, but has some fun stuff on it!
Choice Board

Here is an example of a daily checklist you may want to use to keep a routine:

*Core 5 20 minutes
*Reading 20 minutes - take a Reading Counts Test?
*Math Choice
*Alternate Art/Music/Gym Lesson activity each day
*20-30 minutes of fresh air

Please have your child complete what they can throughout the course of this week. Please feel
free to send me a picture or video of your child completing a learning task!  I would love to see
what they are doing!! :) If internet access or lack of a device is an issue for your student,
please reach out to Mr. Hubble at chubble@sjschools.org.

STEM
STEM Challenge #1: Paper Airplane Challenge!
Be sure to share the challenge so others can give it a try!
The Challenge: Using only one sheet of paper (your choice) who can make a paper airplane
that flies the farthest?
Bonus: try different kinds of paper!
While trying this challenge here are some questions you can ask yourself:
1. Does the type of paper I use affect how far my plane flies?
2. Can I add anything to my plane to help it fly further?
Be sure to record the distance however you would like and to share your results in the comments!
Videos of the plane in action would be amazing!
Get creative and have fun!
I've included 3 different types of paper airplane to help you get started.
Happy STEM!

SEL
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Super Learning Challenge Week #2 (3rd-5th grade)

This week we will be reviewing and sharing books related to the Social Emotional Competency of SELF MANAGEMENT.  Self Management is the ability to regulate one's emotions, thoughts and behavior effectively in different situations.  This includes managing stress, controlling impulses, motivating oneself, and setting and working toward achieving personal and academic goals.

Below there are books to review regarding SELF MANAGEMENT.  Read one, two or all of them over the next week and when you finish a book complete the SEL Super Learning Challenge Form Week #2.  Last week we had 132 responses!  Way to go, let’s beat that number this week!

Fill this out after you read EACH book:

Here are some fun activities to try to regulate yourself:
